We are proud to announce the launch of the Nipper Enterprise ServiceNow CMDB app, now available within the ServiceNow app store. This new application allows Nipper Enterprise users to integrate their ServiceNow CMDB with Nipper Enterprise via an authenticated read only API. This allows the solution to sync and provide continuous, passive and proactive security and evidence-based compliance assessments of networking devices - routers, switches and firewalls - at network scale.
Security and compliance regulations increasingly mandate that everything on the network, including all routers, switches and firewalls, needs to be assessed. Sampling is no longer adequate. And assessment should be on a continuous basis.
Routers, switches and firewalls (networking devices) are hardware that is easy to replace in line with adequate disaster recovery strategies, whilst pushing the configuration of these devices to the ServiceNow CMDB enables customers to securely back up the configurations of devices that are deployed on the network.
Yet maintaining secure and functional configurations for deployed devices is difficult. Assessing everything on the network, continuously, at-scale, without affecting the operation of the enterprise network is the core challenge that Nipper Enterprise solves.
Via the app, Nipper Enterprise provides passive assessment of configurations, fed from the CMDB. The CMDB is already a requirement from a disaster recovery strategy perspective. If the CMDB is a true reflection of the network, the assessment can be performed by Nipper Enterprise in a passive manner without affection the operation of the network.
The app continuously monitors and tracks changes to the segmentation data and configuration data. Change notifications are pushed to Nipper Enterprise via the app, allowing it to remain in sync and perform proactive assessments as and when the listed networking devices’ configurations change.
