Shannon's Apprenticeship Story

Date published: 08 Mar 2018

At Titania, we pride ourselves on supporting apprentices beyond their apprenticeships, with many taking on roles within the company once they have completed them. Shannon has recently completed her Level 2 Business Administration Apprenticeship and is now Titania’s full-time Receptionist, being the first point of contact for visitors to site and ensuring the office runs smoothly.

During her apprenticeship, Shannon would mainly be working on Reception here at Titania HQ but would attend college once every 2 weeks. Her course was made up of 12 units, 6 of which were mandatory. The units were varied with most of them consisting of written work and some being supported by exercises to further enhance skills. Shannon recalls one team task which involved designing and playing a board game in order to build team relationships and to demonstrate how important it is for a team in the work environment to pull together. Each unit would be signed off by her line manager and apprenticeship assessor.

When asked what the highlight of her apprenticeship was, Shannon said “there have been so many highlights!” besides gaining new experiences and learning loads, Shannon has met people that she has become incredibly close to as well as building up confidence in her role. The skills she learnt in her apprenticeship will help her in her day-to-day role bringing value to the company.

Reflecting on her apprenticeship, Shannon had this advice to offer for those considering doing the same “go for it.  As well as earning a salary, you are learning new skills to help you develop.  This in turn makes you more employable. I am already looking forward to completing the next stage.  I feel incredibly proud of what I have achieved”.

Shannon hopes to complete the next stage of her apprenticeship in the near future and to progress in to a Personal Assistant role. Congratulations to Shannon on passing her apprenticeship, we look forward to supporting you in the next stage of your career!
