Ellie's Apprenticeship Story

Date published: 07 Mar 2018

Being an employer that really values apprentices and the work they do, we couldn’t have been prouder when one of own won ‘Higher Level Apprentice of the Year’ at the 2017 Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards. Ellie, who is nearing the end of her Software Engineering apprenticeship was encouraged to do an apprenticeship by her now assessor at TDM. The apprenticeship was really sold to Ellie and she saw it as an opportunity that couldn’t be missed. Almost 2 years in, Ellie is enjoying it telling us how it is “really challenging and I get to learn new things everyday”.

Ellie is part of the Paws Studio development team at Titania. A typical day starts with a stand-up meeting with the rest of the team to discuss the previous day, what went well, what didn’t, and what’s on the agenda for that day. The rest of the day is spent working hard and organising the work load with the team. Being a level 4 apprentice, attending college is no longer needed. However, Ellie does have a catch up with her assessor once a month.

Back in November 2017, Ellie took home the award for ‘Higher Level Apprentice of the Year’ at the Worcestershire Apprenticeship awards. The win was “completely unexpected” for Ellie, describing it all as a whirlwind from being shortlisted to getting up on stage to collect the award which is now proudly displayed on her shelf at home.

When asked what advice would she would give to those thinking of taking on an apprenticeship, she said “go for it, it’s a lot more interesting especially for those who prefer a more hands on approach to learning and often it can create more career opportunities”.

So, what’s next for Ellie? With her apprenticeship due to be completed in May, Ellie expects to be at Titania “for quite a while” and we couldn’t be happier to have her as part of the Titania team!
