Callum's Apprenticeship Story
Date published: 06 Mar 2018

At Titania we are proud to be an employer that fully embraces apprentices having taken on 7 since employing our first in 2011. The latest apprentice to join our team is Callum who is currently completing his Level 3 ICT apprenticeship with a focus on software testing. Callum is just 2 months in to his apprenticeship and is already enjoying it, saying that “it’s really good and fast paced, no job is boring”.
Callum fell into his apprenticeship after realising college wasn’t for him. Passionate about computers and discovering how they work, ICT was naturally an area he wanted to progress in. After searching the UK Government website to see what apprenticeships were available and applying to many, Callum landed his role at Titania – the place he had had his eye on.
A normal day starts around 8.30am, continuing with ongoing tests that he has been working on from the previous day. Once completed, Callum checks the ticketing system to see what else needs to be tested on and whether there are any external queries that he can help with. More recently Callum has been working on a much larger project than he’s used to which is keeping him firmly on his toes.
When asked for advice for those considering taking on an apprenticeship, Callum had this to offer “It’s work based learning which isn’t necessarily for everyone and you need to be able to manage your time as there is studying on top of learning, but you’re getting qualifications on top of work experience which is good for employability. If this sounds like something you’d like then just send out as many applications as possible”
Callum plans to stay at Titania once he completes his apprenticeship in early 2018 and further his apprenticeship at a degree level. Callum has already had such a positive impact on Titania and we’re thrilled to have him on board and look forward to supporting him through his career.
